OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT…

What does the Jesus of America look like? How does he compare to the Jesus of the bible? Are they the same Jesus?

……..?

Trick question. There is only one Jesus and he is my personal savior. Is he yours? I am talking to the world now.

I like the bobble head Jesus myself, he is Americana. He really knows how to rock it.

The power of logic and the ability to think and reason is a gift, use it. From whom? Does it matter, live free.

  3. I’ll take a stab, it is my belief that the American Jesus is a commercial representation of the selfish desires of us. He has many faces and is accepted in most social scenes yet he is only seen as a buddy, friend, pal, fix or repair (Savior). In the good Ol’USA, we have embraced only the qualities that we desire. If we accepted all of his qualities as detailed in the bible we would then have to accept him as the Lord (judge & jury) which then would make us accountable to him. We don’t want to answer to him, talk to and fellowship with yes, but to answer, no no no. Just a generalized observation of the American culture in which I live in.

    Sad but true.

  4. I agree with T_Turner, people have made Jesus very pliable:there by,making it so they can live on both sides of the fence. They go out into the world and do what they do, then on Sunday go to church where they say MY GOD will forgive me all I have to do is ask. And He will, if you come to him with a pure heart and are truly sorry for your transgressions. But what gets me is, these people dont think about what happens if they should die in the middle of there transgression. What if they dont have time to ask THEIR GOD for forgiveness. Thats why we should live each day as if were our last.

  5. You nailed it T_Turner. Kudos.

  6. To be blunt……The very fact that your talking about an ‘american’ jesus, your really talking about satin within in your hearts.
Your trying to justify Freedom & the american way, that is not the freedom that the gospel represents. Beware satin is very clever.
Its a very good question and one that peaople of all nations should really look deep in their hearts and get back to basics of the gospel instead of representations based on each nations needs & social status.

As I said earlier in my comment there is only one Jesus I think of him as the image in the other post where he is breaking the cross down. Nothing can hold him and he is victorious in everyting.
