Deuteronomy 11:16
16 “But be careful. Don’t let your heart be deceived so that you turn away from the Lord and serve and worship other gods.

Joshua 24:15
15 But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

Matthew 6:24
24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other.

Mark 10:45
45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Any thoughts how this may applies to you or I… less chatter and deeper self examination!

  1. It is so easy to adjust the desire of God to fit ourselves. These are great reminders to each of us that we are to be vigilant. Watching for those that intentionally distort The Word for self desire, while lovingly teaching others that do not know. Just like the Eunuch, How will I know if there is no one to teach me. I’ve been so wrapped up in myself over the years that I wrapped the Gospel around the things that were acceptable to me, while later as I matured I realized that I was creating my own god of tolerance.

I like that simple statement, God loves us and accepts us right where we are, regardless! Yet He refuses to leave us there!!!!!

Everyone is unique just like the body and not everyones walk will look or sound like yours. Allow the grace to be enough for all of us and don’t judge those that choose a different path. The way I see it is that even though not all road lead directly to Jesus the path we are all on can get us there.

Terri Jo (from your last post), the name of Jesus does not save you, it is the change of heart. This is a common evangelical error. Mutes, mentally challenged and handicapped people are not keep out of the kingdom because of disabilities.

You can bound ourself to just about anything that you wish, it doesn’t make it holy or reverent. We’ve been paid for at a price and the price was paid in full. How can we do anything else without trampling on the work completed on the cross.

All I will say is different strokes for different fokes.

  3. Different strokes for different folks may apply to how you do your hair, manage or money, or what car you drive but it doesn’t apply to what gets you into heaven. We must choose who we serve here. The Lord would rather you be hot or cold than luke warm- He will spit you out. If you are not calling on the name of Jesus (which doesn’t just mean verbally) in every aspect of your life, you are serving another god. I am not judging or condemning anyone on this site, I am trying to help you open your eyes to the real truth. No, not everyone’s walk is the same, but WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DIE TODAY? Please, everyone try to answer that question. STOP MAKING EXCUSES. Plain and simple.
I know I am normally the nice one here, but lately it has really bothered me how many people claim to be Christians and are just not getting how we are supposed to live. Please, for your own sake (and out of love) examine yourself. This has been on my heart and I believe for a reason, please take it as a message from God. He loves you and wants you to live for eternity with Him. He wants to shower you with gifts and His love, but you have to obey.

SInger, what happened to all those that dies and never heard the gospel of Jesus? Are they going to sit in the fire of hell because they did not know your Jesus and call on Him by name?

  5. I believe all little children are saved by grace. As far as the adults, I am not sure exactly. I think everyone will either have an opportunity to know him in one way or another, or perhaps they are saved by grace as well if they have never had the chance. Just my opinion.
This is a perfect example of why we have it so great, it is available to us and then we get to decide. How lucky are we.

Can someone else answer this question better??

  6. @home mommy, When you say, the path we are all on, to whom do you refer? Because believe me I am not on the same path as you!!!! Granted not all roads lead to Jesus but you should at least choose one that WILL get you there not CAN get you there. I can buy a map and head East to New York and I know I WILL get there. Or i can just set out going West knowing I CAN get to New York…eventually. If you use the Bible as youir map you will find the right path. And it will help you get back on course should you wander. Also Im pretty sure Terri Jo didnt mean call out Jesus in the literal sense so the comment about mutes and people with disabilities makes no sense. Different Strokes is exactly why this world is in the condition its in. There is only ONE true way and those that dont find the way will NOT find the KIngdom of Heaven.

  7. Amen, and thank you all for clarifying what I meant by calling out the name of Jesus. Jesus is the only way, there is no other. Just loving God is not enough. Unfortunately the Jewish people do not claim Jesus as their Savior but they love God. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the light, no one gets to heaven but through me”. This is what I hold on to. I think this is very clear.

  8. Maybe the church needs to spend more time preparing us to serve according to the entire word. The only promise is this; live like my son, serve as my son and die as my son and I treat you as my son and give you the inheritance you deserve as my child.

  9. Jedi 12, I agree and that is what Larry tries to do here,in his Bible Studies, through his Sermons and in his daily life. Its easy to listen to him teach on this when he is actually living what he teaches. I use to think my Faith and going to church was enough until Larry came along. I now realize that good works are not enough. Or just being a good person, there’s plenty of good people who dont believe. I do what ever I can when ever I can but I also keep in mind that its never enough. I too wish more churches taught about serving, and what it actually is.
