OK. I am going to burn my copy of Toy Story now, what a great example of contextual error.

You’ve diliberitly twisted the story to make it something that it isnt. Is is rather extreme to imply that this is what we do with scripture. That is what you are tryng to do here. We need to trust God and continually gowing not throw stones. Judge not unless you want to be judged. And any way people dont usually diliberitly do that.

andy, On the contrary many people do twist scripture to fit their needs. If you havent seen that then you are being naive or you need to listen better. Maybe you need to listen to a wider variety of speakers. The homosexual pastors for example. You dont think they twist scipture to meet their needs

We dilute or minipulate scripture to fit our lives all the time, we are human. Whether we are aware of not, we should be warned to study and read more carefully before we think we know all the facts. Just as you should always go back and check what someone else may tell you is in the bible (even your pastor from his Sunday morning sermon).

What is sad is admitting that you do dilute scripture and just because we are human doesnt give you or me the right to twist God’s words.
Kavi, I do not think most people diliberitly twist God’s word. They may not understand much of it but God loves us any way. Why are you so judgmental at homosexuals? God loves all of us and made each of us special for his purpose.

andy, what is your problem?

Hey guys,
I liked this video, I remember briefly a video done like this with Mary Poppins. Wow that one was scary when the music was changed to change our emotions.
I don’t think Andy has a problem, maybe a little proud. Right Andy, you don’t like it when someone else says you may have it a little wrong.
Many, twist scripture to make it work for them. None of us have it all right, if we did there would be no need for Jesus. There were many scriptures that have been brought to light for me over the past few years. I really don’t think Kavi has anything against homosexuals, God loves them as much as heterosexuals, however scripture points out in no uncertain terms what the destiny is for homosexuals, as well as liars, thieves, adulterers, still there are churches that draw them in. How, by twisting scripture.
Everyone has the opportunity to eternal life, it is whether we choose it or not.

It is true that many twist scripture or skip over certain parts that they feel should not be applied to their lives. Why? Simple, it allows them to feel good about the lives that they are living.
We are to live our lives by the bible in it’s entirety. Again, from cover to cover. And in that same book that we try to live by; we are warned, “narrow is the gate, and few will find the way to heaven”. Now, I don’t know about you, but this tells me that most “Christians” will not make it to heaven.
Look at Matthew 7:22-23: “On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.”
So how can we try to ensure that we make it to heaven? By having that personal relationship with God, His Word and His will. By giving ourselves to Him and His work, daily. By taking His orders (given through His word) and applying, all aspects, to our lives.
To quote Paul, “fight the good fight”.
God bless

My problem is hypocitical idiots like yourself. You always think your right and have the answers. There is so much that you do not know and will never with your narrow thinking. Who’s twisting what? Im sure none of you live the way you talk.

Andy, are you the same Andy from the movie? Just a little light humor. Friend, you really need to lighten your load and spend sometime looking over the archives of this blog. These people have helped me over the last year or so to see what it is to be a real Christian. I too was very angry.
I came to this site looking for something, what, I didn’t know until a couple of months ago. Just sit back and take it all in. I’m sure you’ll be surprised how God will use Larry’s “Simple Point of View” to talk to you too.
God bless

andy, I am not judgmental against homosexuals, thats Gods job and according to the bible they will be judged for their sin. I merely used them as an example. If THEY dont know much ,as you say, then THEY shouldnt go around quoting scripture. Have you never heard the saying Its better to say nothing and have people think you a fool Then to open your mouth and prove them right? That is why we should study our Bible daily so we can spread the word in its true form. And I would say, judging from this page alone, that you are the one being judgemental

I’ve never heard that saying Kavi and just wanted to say that it is truly a great lesson. It reminded me of that sermon Larry gave about the adulterous Jesus saved. Jesus ALWAYS knew when to speak and when to just show and lead.
Why do we consistently throw stones at each other by say hypocrite this and Idiot that why can we never just give our opinions or our beliefs without the anger and wickedness of the tongue. This has all really helped me to START to not be such an angry person and I was hoping it would help some others.
(for some reason the site I found this on will only say John8 but it’s really worth the read.)
They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

The context of the subject is only relevant to the person’s own context. It is how he or she perceives it. Who are any of you to say who is right or wrong. How can you be so sure that what you are reading it true. Is it not how you perceive it?

Can I know your heart or anyone else’s? No, but by your words and actions (works) I can get a fairly good sense to your spiritual maturity. How can I gauge that maturity? By God’s word and the example left by Christ.
Your point about understanding the scriptures bring Acts 8:30-31 to mind. Which gives emphasis to the fact that we all need a submissive spirit filled teacher to help us discern God’s word.
This is just one more reason why we need to be in fellowship with believers. In fellowship there is direction and accountability, that is if they know your there.

so Jimmy Mac have you fought the good fight what ever that is? what is it about you that makes you so sure (arrogant) that you will be acknowledged before God as one that is known? quoting scriptures is easy, doing it is not. just because you do something for someone does not make you a martyr. so really tell us all how it is that you will be granted this limited space all-access pass to heaven (this is how you make it sound).
Lamb, i am also glad that i have been instrumental in your becoming a good person. do you suppose i will hear those famous bumper sticker words people like to through around, well done my good servant?
Monday, 28. July 2008
The bible is not a joke or a bumper sticker. The only thing that can save you or anyone else is the grace of God through Christ Jesus. FEW WILL FIND THE WAY (which should make us all tremble a little), so this is why we are not to dilute, skip over anything or twist scripture to fit our lifestyle. We must read the bible in it’s entirety and follow it as best as humanly possible.

Andy
I hope not I don’t like those things to much for me. If you know me you know I am unique not to much cliche about me “much”.
Have you been reading this blog long? I should add that I credit God for using your anger and Kavi’s interesting choice in words for helping me. Anger is a hard thing to get rid of I have been trying for a long long time and yet I’m only 24. You’ll notice sometimes I’m not to successful in my venture LOL thank GOD for his patience.

“And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:30-32
