Over at bob.blog, Bob has written a most excellent piece on “The Dangers of Easter”. What a well thought out and written piece. It should be required reading for all seminary students. Follow along with me….

There are some dangers for the soul of a community surrounding Easter time.
And the soul of a pastor, I think.

I want us to be careful of how we think, talk and act around times like this weekend.

Remember, Little Pastor- Easter is not a marketing opportunity. The resurrection of the Son of God is not an opportunity to pimp our programs or build our flock, even under the guise of “concern for lost”. And it’s not about me. (Please wait a minute while I repeat that a few times to myself… ) Heaven forbid we should ever do community in such a way that our main avenue for people coming to Christ is hearing the Gospel preached from the mouth of one person, rather than…. I told you it was good stuff. This article reinforces several questions that we all should be asking ourselves and our church leadership. Here are a few examples…

Why do I come and assemble together with other believers?

Who do I trust with my spiritual growth?

Do I teach and live out my faith daily?

Do I or my Pastor have the power and authority to save others?

Are you seeking God’s plan or your own?

Where is God in all this?

When will I trust God?

Just ramblin’ on with my thoughts. Thanks for stopping by

God you know my heart and my true desire…

Matthew 5:21-24
21 “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ 22 But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.

23 “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you [grievance, injustice, grudge], 24 leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

Young Danny was praying at Mother’s knee. “If I should die more…

To everyone …
I would like to address the fact, though contrary to some peoples beliefs (that’s their free willed right and I respect that) that this is a very special week of reflection for may of us. So out of respect for what our Lord and Savior has done (Him Alone) I ask that we all hold our negative and even heavy debates until next week.

Make comments sure, but give them over to the Savior in love and compassion and not in anger or frustration.

Let us focus on the great love God has for us. A love so strong that He allowed His only son to come and die so that we may live.

God Bless and thank you for understanding and respecting what Jesus completed on the cross.

You now only have three days between you and your horrific execution this Friday. How do you treat the next couple of days? Will you go into deep depression and lay on your bed feeling sorry for yourself? Will you act out angrily at all that come in your path because of the unfairness to come? Or do you continue the work you were asked to do, loving, teaching and strengthening relationships?

We know how Jesus answered, how would you? Rhetorically speaking, it’s between you and God and He already knows your heart.

I am a emerging fundamentally evangelical emergent. There I have said it. I am a part of one body and one body only. I have fundamental, evangelical and emerging beliefs, yet at the end of the day I am just another broken man seeking to honor the one that gave me life. Everyone, have a blessed Palm Sunday. Enough said.

You must go out on a limb to get to the very best fruit. Sure, you can pick some up off the ground or you can go to the store (as most do), but you know what? There is nothing more flavorful or satisfying than to reach out. Trusting that the branches will hold your weight as you reach for the ripened fruit.

Thank you Jesus for carrying me out beyond my personal comfort zone to the place where only the best fruit comes. That place that can only be reached through trusting you.

So how comfortable are you? Have you reached beyond your comfort zone?

Where does your fruit come from?
