Who’s the Real Hater?

Published by Larry Diehl under New To The Blog Life

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. John 15:18-19

Sometimes we forget our calling in life. According to Gods words we are to serve others. Those that are rude, mean, ignore, back-stab and insult you. Yes, those people we thought were our friends. Even the ones that we feel are not deserving of our aid: panhandlers, car salesmen, mortgage writers, IRS officers, lawyers, atheists, religious leaders, and Continue Reading »

Now You’ve… Done It: Children See, Children Do

learnedbehav.jpg
Warning: The video below (at the end) is Graphic in nature, not intended for children.

After what I’ve seen and read over the last couple of days. I felt that we needed a spiritual cleansing (enema). Ladies and gentlemen do we not see how we are affecting the lives of others. How hypocritical and uneducated (stupid) we look to the world. Not to mention how we are affecting our children.

Have you ever wondered how we’ve come to the place we are today. A culture of misfit, misplaced, maladjusted and downright angry people. Have you Continue Reading »

Peoples Expectations: Well Said

extremepressure.jpg

Engaging, brilliant and encouraging words that I can surly put my arms around and embrace.

“I found the diverse expectations of people difficult because it was absolutely impossible for me to fulfill such diverse expectations, and that meant I had to live with a measure of unhappiness with me.”

“By far the best thing about the hardest part of being a pastor was the fact that, when I felt overwhelmed by people’s expectations, I was forced to turn to the Lord, to seek God’s wisdom and guidance, as well as His comfort. I had to remember who my one true Boss was, and whom I most sought to please. Knowing God’s pleasure in my pastoral efforts gave the strength to do what I believed to be most important, even if in doing so I wasn’t winning any popularity contests.” Mark Roberts

Marks words ring true for all that have been blessed with the calling of ministry. Whether in a formal or informal capacity, the gut wrenching effects of others expectations will tear you down.

The problem, no one can see, taste or feel our Continue Reading »

INTERPRET or MANIPULATEmustsalequote1.jpg
“He has to sell his interpretation of a song that a lot of people know, and don’t want messed with.” Jon Bon Jovi

As I listened to Bon Jovi’s statement, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. So clear, so simple, so too the point. Much of the division of today’s church body is not really about theology, is it? Or is it about familiarity and comfort. Honestly people just don’t want IT messed with.

But what is IT? God’s word? Who and what Christ did? Atonement? Lets be honest with ourselves, people in general just don’t want things messed with. Why? Because we are comfortable as it is. Just like that Continue Reading »

What About Monday?

Easter is about to pass and we all ran to our churches to celebrate. But what is going to happen Monday morning, are we going to go back to our old selves? Will you carry the spirit of Easter with you or did you check it back in after church today?

This is specifically what I taught on today. Sorry, no Easter pageants, choir melodies, bunny visits or egg hunts. Just Christ, what he did and what he wants us to do with every day of our life. It’s not about a day, but a life.

Just thinking out loud and yes more to come

Keep your faith real, Christ did

A Community Alive Through Christ

Last night was awesome. What do you get when 24 adults and 8 children come over to your house? A night a love, faith and compassion. We started the night in our backyard fellowshipping over a sit down BBQ chicken dinner, provided by Dan and Dianna. Then we all snuggled together in our living room (less the kids) for a splendid night of openness, sincerity and love, as James taught from Matthew 5:21-24. What great conversations we had, you could feel God working through everyone. After fellowship and study we reflected and participated in communion as a family.

Wonderful fellowship, open honest reflection and beautiful communion.

A Community Alive Through Christ

Thank you God for bring these beautiful people into my life, that I may in my times of despair see you through them. I am humbled.
