Should you be committed, I mean are you committed — A reflection on prayer life and how deeply we are committed to the relationship

I was thinking about Elijah and how effective his prayer life was. As I scoured 1 Kings for the subtle details a very specific point became clear to me. more…

Obviously these kids imitate the specific religious culture they come from. They are like pageant kids for Jesus. It reminds me of Marjoe Gortner. Where will these kids be in 20 years? more…

Sunday we opened our message with this video from Pastor Bob Hyatt of Evergreen Community in Portland Or. There was laughing, more laughing and even more laughing as we prepared to discuss death, “It’s a Laughing Matter”.

I must give props to Bob, his heart is truly in the right place. When I asked if I could use this video I expected one of two answers. The first “NO, it’s not available, sorry” or “YES, for the really low price of ???”. But he gave me an unexpected third, “YES, and here is a link to download it for your use. Nothing asked of or expected of me, simply use it. Bob, thanks for being an encouragement to the Body.

The polls are in…
Favorite part… the spelling out of Y-O-U-’-R-E, G-O-N-N-A, D-I-E.

Why did I waste it!
Why didn’t I taste it!
You’re Gonna Die.

Another rambling thought.

Maybe I’m way off base, but this really struck a cord with me. Let me premise my concern as a parent of 4 (3 grown adults & 1, 7yrs old) and grandparent of 4. Sorry I just don’t understand, hard to believe but I am at a loss for words. My heart cry’s out for this child. He should be in his backyard eating a Popsicle while exploring his little world.
Why have we given a 7-year old innocent child (once innocent) the very adult knowledge and concerns of abortion clinics? How much more innocents has been stolen from this child. Imagine the questions that must have followed.

Robbing the innocents of our own youth to make God’s point, this is not the way God longs for His “least of these” to live. And the parent (I think) recording and loading on to youtube. Are they trying to get on Oprah? At what price!

We wont discuss the negative impact… never mind.

The real you! Regardless of what we do with our outward appearance, God sees our heart. Stop trying so hard.

Just a thought!

But with a twist. Matthew 5:46-47 says, “If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that”.

The challenge, let those who we don’t necessarily enjoy being with know that we love them as Christ loves us. Get uncomfortable and live out God’s word daily.

My dear friend Brandon wrote this jewel back sometime ago and I wanted to share it with all of you.

“Very truly I tell you, all who have faith in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

Modern Christianity makes a big deal about having faith and “going to Heaven.” Jesus makes a big deal out of having faith and working like he did to reconcile the world with God’s love.

We are more concerned about “telling people about Jesus” than we are about feeding them, clothing them, giving them clean… continue reading
