Just like you to pass the blame! It’s not my fault, it’s yours. You are guilty, just like everyone else that chooses to not listen and obey God. How do you stretch God’s word. Sounds more like changing it to fit your needs to me. The emerging thing is sickening. Stop play around with scripture, repent and come back to the church.
Henrietta, what bone yard did they dig you out of! Did they discover your DNA in some mosquito that was stuck in tree sap 10,000 years ago. GET A CLUE!
I pray for both of us, and these are not just words.
It is our own personal responsibility to study the word of God, which every translation (NKJ, NIV or NLT) helps you to understand it. The thing that our Lord and Savior wants from us is a personal relationship (through prayer and devotion). I disagree with Henrietta, I don’t see any manipulation of God’s word, just a good statement that we should all be in study.
Personal accountability, we all need it.
Thank you Henrietta for answering my earlier question.
If the church doesn’t even take a certain level of responsibility for its members, how is its member going to learn about responsibility? You can’t just say sorry, it’s not my fault, it’s someone else’s.
Side bar translations are irrelevant if your not living according to God.
The church has a level of responsibility to teach it’s followers. However, our biblical knowledge does not fall fully on the church. I can best describe it with spiritual maturity. Are you new to faith, a new believer or have you been sitting in the back pew for the past thirty years and never took it upon your self to study God’s word (just believe and follow what the pastor has told you). At some point you need to become personally accountable.
The church is responsible for making sure that they are teching the true word of God, not a specific translation, but The Bible as God wrote it. Not to pick and choose what they think people will want to hear, but what they need to hear. Then it is upon each one of us(as believers) to pick up the Bible and read it. With our own maturity we will see how it fits on a personal level that is not possible in a large corperate setting. Sometimes God is wanting to speak to us durring a certain situation and Sunday morning is too far away. If we are not in constant prayer and studing we may miss the insight we needed for that situation. I have been there. Sometimes life gets busy and I push off my time with God, this is when I get a shake up in my life to bring me back to His arms. I pray to be more faithful and trusting in God that He will guide me and show me, through His word, the path to follow. May we all spend more time studing and praying.(and less time on this blog arguing)
I’m beginning to think that maybe I need to have this as a warning each time anyone comes to this blog. Between some of the comments and those ebombs… ouch. Where is the JOY of Christ.

Don’t forget the stretching and challenging of us to become literally accountable to God.
