In the famous words of the once popular Brittney Spears, “Ooop’s I’ve Done It Again”, yes I have. Again maybe not so much, but I like the cleverness of the wording in that song nonetheless. I can’t speak for other Pastor/Teachers, but for me the Holy Spirit really stirs my heart and I get emotional during services. A side note, audio messages just don’t give God the glory that live services do, but to continue.

The emotions that run through me and the desire I have to bring glory to God is sometimes overwhelming for this mere man (bag of bones). I have been known to get tongue-tied and will say things like Jonah when we are taking about Noah for example. You know the silly things that we’ve all done and have no idea why. Maybe my brain receptors are miss firing? Who really knows, but nonetheless we all can get a laugh at my expense and that’s all right by me.

Well today I did it again. I was fast-forwarding through the life of Joseph and when I got to the part about Potiphar’s wife grabbing Joseph’s garment, I said his coat. We all know that his father was given Josephs coat way back when, dipped in blood so that it would appear as though a wild animal had killed Joseph. Yet in the passion of the moment I had a “Brain Fart”, yes I said it. Lucky for me a dear friend (a shout out to Mark, my Jewish Christian Bro) pointed it out to me after service and we had a great laugh.

All I can say is that I am just a man, fully capable of making honest mistakes. Thank God for HIS grace and this fun loving congregation. I just love all of you guys.

Have a great week. And I’ll try to remember to take some bean-o before service next week. Does anyone have a coupon?

God Bless you all my friends

  1. I’ve struggled for years with my faith and you have given me great hope today. Thank you for showing me that there are real men of humble faith in the world. I will continue to seek God and hope to find a local mentor such as yourself on my journey.

  2. Don’t buy in to the #$!@()$%*@, this is just a bunch of babble to suck you in. Just like his halloween #%&$(#@@#!, this guy is trying to manipulate you. It is your life, live it for yourself. He is just like all the other christians, a typical politition. Use your brains and be thinkers and enjoy life!

  3. Deliverer. You clearly are lost and upset that you are. You keep coming back to read this blog and there is a reason for that. May the Lord open your eyes and soften your heart. That is my prayer for you.

Find the Lord and find joy in your life. God Bless.

  4. Is the Pope capable of making a mistake, either in thought or deed? Can a surgeon make a mistake, either in thought or deed? Isn’t everyone capable of making a mistake in either thought or deed! My point, I made an honest (grace filled) mistake nothing more. Allowing us all to remember the laughable moments in each of our lives and chuckling. Friends, laugh out loud and make a joyous noise. Life is far to short.

And guess what, I’ll wager that I will make maybe one or two more mistakes in my lifetime (ha ha)! I am human and subject to error. Just because I have a title doesn’t make me infallible. The priests of Jesus time felt they where infallible and He chastised them. Oh, and they out of love, honor and duty hung Him to die on a cross.

I am just trying to remain humbly and lovingly accountable to God and the members of our congregation. And if they can get a health laugh with me out of it, bonus points!

Let’s remember that an opinion is someones perception of the truth. It doesn’t make them right or wrong, just opinionated. I will gracefully bow out for now.

  5. Larry, you are one very opinionated person then(ha ha). I thank God for every bit of insight He gives you, and for your willingness to share them with the rest of us. Keep it up(mistakes and all), and maybe the rest of us will be able to keep up with you.
