What is life about? Can any of us really put our arms all the way around it? No! Last year we started a tradition. Before our Christmas service, we had decided to give the entire Christmas offering to the homeless people here in Phoenix. Here is how God works, to show His Glory.
We took the entire Christmas service offering and asked God’s blessing and direction upon it. We then began to purchase blankets, socks, personal hygiene items and food. When all was said, God had taken a humble amount of money and created 30 care packages. The packages included: (1) blanket, (2) cans of Vienna, (2) packages of crackers, (2) granola bars, pop tarts & cheese nips, (2) bottles of water, a bar of soap, toothbrush and tooth paste, razor and sock. When it was all said and done we all just stood in amazement. Granted we did not witness the parting of the red sea, but for our group it was the equivalent.
So why am I talking about it now? Some of you have already voiced a desire to help with the program. And because we’ve been blessed with such a wonderful church family and location to fellowship, I just felt compelled to think beyond Christmas. Think about it, wouldn’t it be a wonderful blessing and testimony of our faith if we could begin handing bags out before Thanksgiving and continue through New Years? So watch for specials on throw blankets, socks, personal hygiene items and canned foods (pop top, self opening) and pick up what you can. Matter of fact, if you see a screaming deal, pick-up some extra and the church will gladly reimburse you.
If you’re not sure what to look for, give me a call or talk to me on Sunday or at Small groups on Thursday.
God Bless
Pastor Larry

Will we be actually getting to go and hand out the care packages this year as well? I would love to have my children and Daniel and I be a part of handing out these care packages. I think it would be a very humbling experience for our kids who do tend to take all they have for granted. Unfortunalty our children are born sinners and they are of this world and it is our job to show them how to not live in this world but for Jesus Christ while we are here. What a wonderful way to show our kids how blessed they are and to show them a way to bless others at the same time. Please let us know. We would love to also help put the packages together. Please contact us with the info so we can be a part of this. Thankyou.
