It may not be as much of an addiction as it is a great time. My nephew and brother-in-law have tried for over a year to get me on the paintball field. Lets be honest, I know all they wanted to do was use me as a live target. That thing they call fresh meat and that was cool with me. So a few months ago I buckled under all the peer pressure. All I can say is that balling rules. I can see why it has become one of the top participation sports in the world.

According to SGMA, Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association paintball has over 10.4 million players. That is more than tackle football (5.8 million), water skiing (7.3 million) and even baseball (10.3 million). Apparently it is cool to paintball.

So why do I enjoy it so much? It’s simple, I get to relive my childhood and play war all over again. But this time war has a new twist. Not only do I have a target to shoot at, but the target shoots back.

Here is the short list of why I paintball

It is a fun time
For me it’s better than Halo, no safety or cheat codes
It is a great challenge (hand and eye coordination)
The ultimate strategy game
It requires you to communicate with others (team work)
Wonderful workout, feel the burn
The comradery, just hanging out with the team
Really clears your mind from outside distractions

I look forward to seeing some of you on the field. By the way thanks Dean and Pat for being persistent.
