Deep Concerns About “The Truth”

How can we call ourselves Christians when we wont forgive! It appears that we should all take a few minutes and read what “The Savior” has to say about the life of a Christian. Continue Reading »

Should You Be Committed

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts, Just For Fun

Should you be committed, I mean are you committed
A reflection on prayer life and how deeply we are committed to the relationship

I was thinking the other day about Elijah and how effective his prayer life was. As I scoured 1 Kings for the subtle details a very specific point became clear to me.

Reflecting on Elijah’s prayer life.
Starting 1 Kings 18:29-32, you will see a commitment of time energy and thought. Check it out with me. Continue Reading »

It’s Not Another Fish Story

We had a fantastic time as our First Church Family Camping trip (many more to come). We hung out in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon just North of Sedona. For three days we fellowshipped, prayed, studied and just hung out. For me the highlight was when two of our young children volunteered for opening prayer before our bonfire service Friday night, asking God to bless and protect us. Talk about a real tears for joy jerker, our children praying and blessing us (can I get an Amen). Out of the mouths of babes. Thank you Lord for bringing this Christ-centered fellowship together.

Friday morning was kind of special also. I caught this little 21-inch Rainbow Trout on my Homer Simpson fishing pole. Better luck next year Ernie.

Remember When: Harvest ‘06

Several of us from our church took off for three days to participate in the Harvest last year. We had a blast playing in the ocean and going to Down Town Disney and just fellowshipping together for a few days. But I must admit, the Harvest took the cake hands down. You could see the Holy Spirit actively affecting the lives of thousands of people.

I must confess one thing. The prior year my wife and I went alone with our youngest. It was our first Harvest and first time seeing David Crowder. I had heard of David and enjoyed listening to his music on the radio, yet I had no idea what he looked like. Well that year we sat on the first row next to the first base dugout and guess what? That is where everyone comes out to go on the field. Several people came out together and the crowd starts cheering for David Crowder. I saw who I though was David. Boy was I wrong! When I saw the real David walking out (remember at this point I do not know what he looks like) I thought he was a soundman or a grip (laborer) for the video crew. Imagine my shock when he (the sound guy to me) walked up to the mic and began to sing. I was shocked and amazed! The boy can belt the notes out and you can really feel and see his sincerity. There is no doubt that David is doing all he can to bring glory to the Father.

The situation reminded me of Hebrews 13:2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Oh how quickly we all (I included) forget. Enough said, I just wanted to reminisce for a moment.

Happy trails friends.
