Please Pray For Me

Your alt text

In a world based on measurable performance, how do you measure your spiritual heath without numbers? How? Let me start with a few questions. We say…

Do you pray? If so, how often?
Do you attend a church? If so, how often?
Do you read your bible? If so, how often?

See the pattern, a number is used to measure your commitment. It makes perfect since to me, a guy that comes from a background in advertising and marketing. But is it really the best way to gauge an individuals spiritual health.

Like most of us over the years, I’m sure you’ve met people Continue Reading »

So if you have time click here and vote for her. Jenny’s video is listed at the top of the right hand column. Congratulations again Jenny.

Commitment

Published by Larry Diehl under Survey Says, Deep Thoughts

I’ve been crazy busy but not out! Trying to balance the husband, father, grandfather, son and Pastor hats can be a bit overwhelming at times. Especially when you hold down a fulltime job to boot. But, guess what? At the end of the day I thank God for giving me one more chance to live for Him. It’s about the level of commitment we each have.

With that said, I ask this question, what is your level of commitment? Why do I ask this? Simple. It’s American Idol time again and if we are not glued to the TV for 2 straight hours a couple nights a week, we are taping for viewing later. Then all day it’s American Idol this, American Idol that. Are you more committed to American Idol than you are to the Lord? When was the last time you just sat and talk with God for an hour (outside of church or group bible study)? How about 30 minutes? Was it 2 days ago? 5 days ago? Maybe 4 months, if ever.

We, even myself need to occasionally reevaluate our lives and priorities. We get so caught up in life that we forget the One that gives us our very breath. So I challenge you to take a look at yourself and the level of commitment you’ve given to the Lord and adjust as necessary. God gave His son, what have you really given?

Just another passing thought.

Sin Values

Published by Larry Diehl under Survey Says, Deep Thoughts

Romand 2:1-4 NASB
1Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.

What do you suppose Paul is trying to tell us about ourselves?

I’ve looked high and low and have yet to find a graduated sin scale. Has anyone found one? Whether we are engaged in sexual sin, lust of money or pride of our own heart, it is simply sin. Murder your neighbor or lust about his wife, it is simply sin. It is called sin, period. We need to get over ourselves.

It is sin not sins or levels of sin, but singularly sin that separates us for God.

Boo, Just Thinking

Just thinking out loud.

Why is it when I am asked if I celebrate Halloween people including Christians get made at me, even waging war. As some of you know, my household doesn’t practice in that Holiday. Let me add before the civil liberties Continue Reading »

To Die for Truth?

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts

The other day I watched the Last Samurai, again. This is one of my favorite all time movies, even though I am not a big Cruise fan. Each time I watch this movie, all I can do is think about pure commitment. Seriously think for a moment, their faith was great enough to die for (a conscious decision). Can you honestly say your faith is that great? I would like to think I could, but honestly, sometimes I wonder if Continue Reading »
