Live to Serve, Serve to Live

Your alt text I just can’t say enough about the gratitude I have for our church family. Am I bragging? Maybe a little but they deserve it. They are eager to serve the Lord, whenever. Our Christmas Eve service was our largest offering to date and we dedicated all of it to the needs of the homeless and that is just what we did. God has blessed us in abundance. The only Continue Reading »

Tom Cruise is the Christ?

Sipping a cup of coffee and listening to the Your alt text news on TV this morning I about blew chunks. Yes chunks! The news came on and said that the church of scientology had declared Tom Cruise as the new “Christ”. What is wrong with this world! Don’t they realize that Tom is way to good looking to hang on a cross! And how do you explain to Suri that her daddy was too busy saving people like you and I to go play tea party.

I wonder how John Travolta is taking the news. Wait, why not have them both! Tom shouldn’t mind with such a humble personality and all. And what if, they could get Continue Reading »

Formula for Sin

Published by Larry Diehl under Survey Says, Deep Thoughts

Temptation + Compromise = Sin

The problem is that many people believe that they can prevent temptation. They can’t, it is an external source. Compromise on the other hand is internal (the ball is now in our court). Remove the compromise and temptation returns void.

Just my thoughts

For Praying Out Loud

Published by Larry Diehl under New To The Blog Life

A few weeks back I was talking with some of our folks about corporate prayer. Like at the close of a meeting, when someone may be asked to say a closing prayer. What surprised me were how many people from our own little fellowship that felt uncomfortable saying a public prayer. So we talked about it and the results where interesting.

It seems that even when you are amongst loving friends, we still have fear of rejection and embarrassment. As we talked opening, many agreed Continue Reading »

Church Gone Wild?

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts

Acts 3:13-15
13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say.15 So they ordered Peter and John out of the council chamber and conferred among themselves.

Have you ever thought about these verses? It sounds much like what is going on within our church culture today. The council grumbles, look, look closely they don’t fit the mold and we have not given our seal of approval. They have not jumped through enough Continue Reading »
