Hello, I’m a Christ follower, the first person states plainly and calmly. In the next breathe the other person bursts out saying, “Go to my church, we’ve got…”.

Apple Computers latest advertisement really hits home with me. The way the church has been operating and trying to compete in the world is embarrassing. Look at what we are offering you today! Need a special program, we’ve got it! But wait, if you act now we’ll throw in a set of…, if you’ll just say this prayer, operators are standing by.

Did I just say compete? Who is the competition? Is it Sunday Pro Football or NASCAR, as some will say? Then start TiVoing the events and offer up parties after church, yes in the church. Woops, I think we’ve just seen the next recruitment plan unfold before our very eyes. But if we are honest, we are advertising to Christian. Does our church say come as you are, one size fits all, and we love you now not just once you’re converted?

I find it interesting how we have summed up a healthy church by its size and programs. We’ve embraced the world with open arms while letting Christ slip through our fingers. It’s time for reform! Don’t believe me look around, many large denominational churches that have been in our communities for 20, 30, even 50 or more years are now closing their doors. Why? Is it truly Gods Will for churches to close their doors? Not really. What do you think the secular world thinks when this happens? Better yet, what does God think of all this as He watches us run amuck.

We need to get back to what is central in our faith and that is Christ Jesus. Reducing the amount of programs and age specific classes. Emphasizing community, both in and out of the fellowship, bringing the fellowship closes together.

Instead of reacting and acting like, let starting being!

Quick say the pray so I can add you to our statistics. This will show the world that we are growing and doing God’s work. And for $19.95 I will show you how to successfully grow your church into the kind of business it was meant to be.

Just one of my passing thoughts, pass it on.

It is time for healing and not finger pointing.
