God’s of Baal Moveover, Mom is in the House

Published by Larry Diehl under Just For Fun

The top hot gifts that will make your kids worship you. Yes, as far as I know this is a real banner ad that was sent to me to share with all of you. So what do you think, if anything? Is this what we as parents have resorted to?

Your alt text

There is no need for a relationship when you can be worshiped. And if you act now we will even include, not one but three ways in which you can become a graven image. Operators are standing by.

But wait there’s more! We know you’re busy and with all the hustle and bustle of the worship season, we wanted to make sure you didn’t forget your one-way ticket to Hell.

Operators are standing by; please have your credit cards ready. Sorry, supplies are limited and you are subject to eternal damnation.

Blessed Wishes For All

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts

Christmas eve is here to remind each of us to embrace one another (friend and foe) with the same love that God sent to us in the form of a baby. His Son, baby Jesus, a gift to all of us. Who would have ever imagined that one little helpless baby, born and laid to rest in a filthy manger would become the Lord of Lords.

Praise God the Father Almighty.

Merry Christmas and God Bless you all

What R-WE-THINKING?

Published by Larry Diehl under Just For Fun

And we wonder why the world is laughing at us! Is there a clear representation of the “True Church” or “Body of Christ” out there for the world to see? There should be, yet we sit and watch as the world paints all Christians with a single broad stroke.

God, my Father, I pray that I will truly live as a follower of your Son, Jesus Christ. Accepting the responsibility placed on me once I accepted what your Son had done for me on Calvary. Thank you for your continued patients and grace. Give me strength. Amen

So what we are thinking is not the problem, the problem is, Continue Reading »

Is It Pay Day?

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts

Should a Pastor, Minister or Reverend be paid? If so, how do you determine the fair market value of his or her service? Do you pay them based on their education, hours worked each week, experience, abilities or what? While we are talking about it, how often should they receive raises and how do you determine those factors? And are there exceptions to the rules?

Tough questions to ponder, but they need to be asked. Should a church become fully responsible for the livelihood of any person? If not, how is someone to fulfill his or her obligations to the congregation. Why care about how much they make as long as Continue Reading »

Passion for Rock

Published by Larry Diehl under Just For Fun, Music Class

Dewey’s zeal for real rock and roll and desire for the pureness of it is how we as Christians should feel about our faith in Christ. A longing for pure uncluttered, uncomplicated faith with a double helping of Grace.

As I think back, it was the pureness of, here I am and I give my all passion that drew me to rock when I was a teen. Is it just me, does Dewey remind you of Meat Loaf. I feel an air guitar solo coming in the next few minute. Can you say Real Rock!

Who is Right?

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts

When we spend our time trying to convince others that we are correct, are we not saying that we have the absolute truth? Can any of us make that statement? That we totally understand the scripture and that the truth that we know will not change in understanding.

If you take that position then you’re no better than the Continue Reading »

All in how it is Perceived?

Published by Larry Diehl under Deep Thoughts, Music Class

See how music effects how we perceive this timeless classic, Mary Popins.

After seeing this, tell me music has little effect on our corporate worship service. As a matter of fact tell me that it can have a negative effect on the sermon. Negative effect, possible, but no-effect, no-way. It is more likely that the music will prepare the hearts of listeners in a very positive and productive way.

The Sales Pitch

Hello, I’m a Christ follower, the first person states plainly and calmly. In the next breathe the other person bursts out saying, “Go to my church, we’ve got…”.

Apple Computers latest advertisement really hits home with me. The way the church has been operating and trying to compete in the world is embarrassing. Look at Continue Reading »
